Sea Grill, located steps from slips on the Oleta River in North Miami Beach, provides both indoor and outdoor dining elegance for boaters hungry for Greek and Italian dishes.

Though the wait time for a table was short when we went, reservations are suggested. A hostess soon seated my dining companion and me in the spacious, limestone-walled dining room, where LCD screens displayed natural vistas and a virtual aquarium.

We were impressed by the dish’s sublime balance between the rich cream sauce and salty fish eggs; a dash of capers on top provided a savory counterpoint. The tarama was served with tasty pita slices generously sprinkled with herbs.

I ordered the salmon ladoregano as a main course and was pleased with the tender, flaky, and fresh fish marinated in lemon and oregano. The accompanying boiled potato wedges in a thick, zesty citrus sauce provided an unexpected but welcome complement. My companion had the chicken kebab on a bed of tasty lemon-flavored rice. The chicken was tender and the freshly grilled vegetables were flavorful.

Our meals were part of an extensive list of land and sea options, including Chilean sea bass, grouper plaki, lamb chops, and New York strip steak. Fresh-caught whole fish — displayed on ice in the restaurant’s lounge — are also available and deboned by chefs unless otherwise requested.

Vegetarians can choose from several tempting, filling salads and appetizers, such as spanakopita and tiropita (many of these include dairy products, so vegans have a smaller selection). Though the menu lists no gluten-free options, restaurant staff assured me many dishes can be made gluten-free upon request. Sea Grill also has a modest wine list, most of which is only available by the bottle.

Though we would love to return on a less-crowded night, we found the wait staff to be attentive and charming and our food was superb. Boaters craving Mediterranean cuisine served in a classy international atmosphere will likely enjoy their experience at Sea Grill as much as we did.
